Residents of Obuasi PTP Quarters say they are living in fear as illegal mining activities, known locally as galamsey, intensify in their community. Reports gathered by Adom News indicate that operations are taking place alarmingly close to the Obuasi East Municipal Assembly office, creating panic among both Immigration officers and assembly staff residing in the area. According to residents, the illegal miners mostly operate under the cover of night when people are asleep. Excavations have left homes dangerously exposed, with gaping pits posing life-threatening risks—especially to children during rainfall. “Their activities have thrown us into fear and panic.
