Nigeria’s Tourism Sector Holds Huge Economic Potential – Ononogbu
The newly appointed Chairman of the National Park Service Board, Dr. Kingsley Ononogbu, has described Nigeria’s tourism industry as a key driver of economic growth, stressing that its potential is vast and largely untapped. Speaking with journalists in Umuahia, Abia State, Ononogbu said Nigeria is blessed with abundant natural attractions, including nine officially recognised national parks and over 15 others yet to be fully developed, which can position the country as a global tourism destination. He noted that his first step as chairman would be to review the existing parks to identify immediate priorities, while long-term projects would be factored into future budgets. “The ones that can be addressed immediately, we will take them head-on.
