Funke Akindele: I just want to tell African stories
Nollywood star Funke Akindele says she is not in competition with anyone and is only focused on telling authentic Nigerian and African stories through her films. She made this known in Lagos after receiving multiple honours from the National Film and Video Censors Board for her record breaking box office success. Akindele explained that her goal is to produce stories that reflect everyday Nigerian and African experiences so audiences at home and abroad can feel seen, accepted, and understood. She said she wants viewers to watch her movies, learn from them, and connect with the realities, struggles, and aspirations of people on the continent.
