NECO releases 2025 SSCE external results, records 71.63% pass rate

The National Examinations Council (NECO) has released the 2025 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) External results, with 71.63 per cent of candidates scoring five credits and above including English Language and Mathematics. Registrar and Chief Executive, Prof. Dantani Ibrahim‑Wushishi, announced the results at a news conference at NECO headquarters in Minna, noting that the exams held from November 26 to December 13, 2025, while marking ran from January 5 to 21, 2026. He said the results were released 52 days after the last paper. A total of 96,979 candidates registered, comprising 51,823 males (53.43 per cent) and 45,156 females (46.56 per cent), while 95,160 eventually sat for the examination (50,785 males and 44,375 females). SSANU, NASU extend strike ultimatum by two weeks

The Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) and the Non-Academic Staff Union of Universities and Allied Institutions (NASU) have extended their strike ultimatum to the Federal Government by two weeks. NECO sets strict CBT rules as exams go digital Nov 2025

The National Examinations Council (NECO) has announced that beginning with the November/December 2025 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) External, all exams will be conducted strictly through Computer-Based Testing (CBT), ending the era of paper-and-pencil assessments. The move comes as part of the Federal Government’s plan to fully adopt CBT for both school-based and external SSCEs by 2026, using both private and public-owned centres. In a statement on Wednesday, NECO confirmed that arrangements have been completed for the migration to CBT and called on qualified CBT centre operators nationwide to apply for accreditation.
