US, UK, France, Others Approve Nigerian Ambassadors

The Federal Government says the United States, United Kingdom, France and seven other countries have formally approved Nigeria’s newly appointed ambassadors designates. The approvals, known in diplomacy as agrément, are required before the envoys can assume duty at their posts. Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kimiebi Ebienfa, confirmed the development in a statement on Monday. He said Nigeria has so far received positive responses from ten countries and is still awaiting feedback from others. According to the ministry, the countries that have granted agrément are the United States, United Kingdom, France, Ireland, Qatar, the Republic of Benin, Ethiopia, Djibouti, Senegal and Sierra Leone.
