NDLEA secures forfeiture of N33.6bn opioids seized at Onne Port

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has secured an interim forfeiture order on 17 containers of illicit opioids worth over N33.6 billion intercepted at the Onne Port in Rivers State. NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi said in a statement on Tuesday that the containers were seized at the Port Harcourt Ports Complex, Onne, on different dates between April and September 2025. They contained 19.6 million pills of Tramadol, Tafrodol, Tapentadol and Carisoprodol, as well as 2,496,400 bottles of codeine syrup, with a combined street value estimated at N33,691,200,000. The interim forfeiture order was granted by Justice Adamu Turaki Mohammed of the Federal High Court, Port Harcourt, following a motion ex parte filed by the NDLEA on February 10, 2026, in suit number FHC/PH/MISC/25/2026. Marwa urges stronger intelligence sharing to fight insecurity

Chairman of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency Buba Marwa has called for closing key intelligence gaps as a central step in tackling Nigeria’s worsening insecurity. He spoke at the Army War College Nigeria Interagency Seminar in Abuja, where he warned that the country faces a complex mix of threats, including insurgency and terrorism in the North East, farmer herder clashes in the North West and North Central, secessionist agitations in the South East, and organised crime and drug trafficking in the South South and South West. Customs begins compulsory drug tests for officers nationwide

The Nigeria Customs Service has introduced mandatory drug tests for all officers and men across its commands nationwide to strengthen security and integrity in its operations. Zonal Coordinator for Zone A, Assistant Comptroller General Mohammed Babandede, announced the move during a familiarisation visit to the Apapa Area Command in Lagos. He reminded officers that Customs’ core mandates include revenue generation, national security, public safety and trade facilitation. Babandede said drug screening will be conducted in every command and urged personnel to take their health seriously so they can deliver effective service. Customs Sets Record With ₦20.1bn Revenue At Apapa Port

The Apapa Port Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has set a new record, generating ₦20.1 billion in a single day just 24 hours after Comptroller Emmanuel Oshoba assumed office as the new Customs Area Controller. The revenue, collected on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, surpassed the previous record of ₦18 billion, making it the highest daily revenue collection by any Command in NCS history under the Unified Customs Management System (B’Odogwu).
