Audit Uncovers GH¢8.2m Payout to Former NSA Boss

A forensic audit of the National Service Authority (NSA) has uncovered shocking revelations involving its former Director-General, Osei Assibey Antwi. Findings seen exclusively by The Fourth Estate indicate that while serving as Director-General, Mr. Assibey Antwi was also registered and posted as a volunteer within the NSA during the 2022/2023 service year. Auditors discovered that he was assigned an EZWICH card (No. 1177042059) and posted to the Greater Accra Region. However, payroll records show he was assigned to Kumawu Farms in the Ashanti Region, a 200-acre farming project initiated under his administration. According to the report, Mr. Assibey Antwi received GH¢516,000 every month for 16 months, amounting to GH¢8,256,000. NASASU Condemns Political Interference in National Service Authority Operations

In a statement dated April 11, 2025, and signed by NASASU Chairman Ayirebi Adubofour, the National Service Staff Union (NASASU) raised concerns about increasing political interference in the National Service Authority’s (NSA) operations—especially when it comes to hiring and staff transfers. The Union said this kind of interference weakens democratic values, damages public trust, and threatens the credibility of state institutions. “We strongly condemn the actions of political party supporters trying to take control of the National Service Authority. NIB Questions Former NSA Boss Osei Assibey Over Ghost Names Scandal

The National Investigations Bureau (NIB) is continuing its probe into the ghost names scandal involving the National Service Authority (NSA). The latest figure to be questioned is Osei Assibey Antwi, the former Executive Director of the NSA.Assibey Antwi was invited by the NIB for questioning on March 20, 2025, and appeared before investigators with his lawyer.
