Military Police Rescue Six Security Officers Detained Over Chieftaincy Dispute in Awutu
The Military Police have rescued four soldiers and two National Security operatives who were detained at the Bawjiase District Police Command and later transported to Accra for further interrogation. According to reports by Adom News, the officers were apprehended after allegedly attempting to install a new chief at Awutu Kwashie Abbey in the Awutu Senya West District — a community that already has a gazetted chief, Nai Kwashie Abbey VIII, popularly known as Nai Atopi. Awutu Kwashie Abbey, largely a farming community, has been the center of a prolonged chieftaincy dispute that has fueled division and tension among residents.
