Troops, DSS and volunteers repel Niger bandits’ attack, kill scores
A combined team of security forces and local fighters has repelled a major bandits’ attack in Niger State, killing scores of the assailants after a prolonged gun battle. The operation involved operatives of the Department of State Services, troops of the Armed Forces and community‑based volunteers who were alerted after terrorists stormed rural communities. Security sources said the confrontation began when heavily armed bandits linked to notorious kingpins Dogo Gide and Leyi attacked Chibani village in Munya Local Government Area, killing one resident and injuring a policeman and another villager.
