Iran insists on right to enrich uranium in talks
Iran’s nuclear chief has insisted that Tehran will keep its right to enrich uranium in any future peace talks with the United States. Mohammed Eslami, head of Iran’s nuclear programme, spoke on Thursday on the sidelines of a memorial service for late supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. He rejected US demands that Iran should end uranium enrichment, according to Iran’s ISNA news agency. “Those are their wishes, and those wishes will be buried,” he said, referring to US calls for Tehran to halt enrichment. Even before the ongoing war, officials from Washington and Tehran had been holding indirect talks over Iran’s nuclear activities.
