Businessman excretes 45 cocaine wraps as NDLEA seizes Captagon in Kwara

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) says a 33 year old businessman has excreted 45 wraps of cocaine after he was intercepted on a commercial bus in Oyo State, just as operatives seized a fresh consignment of the terror drug Captagon and other hard drugs in Kwara and several other states.​ NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi said in a statement that the latest Captagon bust came almost five years after the agency recorded Africa’s first seizure of the amphetamine pill at Apapa seaport in Lagos. NDLEA secures forfeiture of N33.6bn opioids seized at Onne Port

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has secured an interim forfeiture order on 17 containers of illicit opioids worth over N33.6 billion intercepted at the Onne Port in Rivers State. NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi said in a statement on Tuesday that the containers were seized at the Port Harcourt Ports Complex, Onne, on different dates between April and September 2025. They contained 19.6 million pills of Tramadol, Tafrodol, Tapentadol and Carisoprodol, as well as 2,496,400 bottles of codeine syrup, with a combined street value estimated at N33,691,200,000. NDLEA busts syndicate hiding cocaine and loud in food flasks to UK

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has uncovered a drug trafficking syndicate that hid cocaine and loud in food flasks and snack packs for shipment to the United Kingdom and Nigeria.​ The agency said its officers at the export shed of Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, intercepted 12 large parcels of cocaine concealed in the false bottom of food flasks on April 9. NDLEA arrests 93 year old man and doctor in nationwide drug raids

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has arrested a 93 year old man, a 69 year old medical doctor and several others in a nationwide crackdown on drug cartels. NDLEA Director of Media and Advocacy Femi Babafemi said the intelligence led operations were carried out across multiple states. Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency have intercepted a large consignment of cocaine concealed in the heads of imported dry stock fish in Lagos. The seizure was made during a strategic operation targeting a trans border drug syndicate that ships narcotics to countries including India. NDLEA nabs China bound trader with 95 cocaine wraps at Kano airport

Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency have arrested a 62 year old Lagos based businessman, Nwabueze Nicholas Izueke, at Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport for ingesting 95 wraps of cocaine.​ He was intercepted on January 31, 2026 during outward clearance for an Ethiopian Airlines flight from Kano to China via Addis Ababa. NDLEA arrests Brazil returnee with cocaine hidden in body and footwear

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has arrested a Brazil based Nigerian businessman, Uche Franklin Onyekwere, at Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, for allegedly smuggling cocaine concealed in his private parts and in the soles of his shoes. Onyekwere was picked up on Thursday, January 29, 2026, during inward clearance of South African Airways passengers arriving from Brazil via Johannesburg, following processed intelligence. A full body scan reportedly indicated illicit drug concealment, after which he was subjected to a strip search. Officials said a large parcel of white powdery substance later confirmed as cocaine was found wrapped around his right thigh, while two more wraps were discovered hidden in the soles of a pair of flat shoes he was wearing.
