MOFA distributes 900 seized pumps to farmers

The Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MOFA) has distributed 900 water pumping machines, previously seized from illegal mining (galamsey) sites, to nine regions across Ghana. The initiative is part of efforts to boost agricultural productivity under the government’s Feed Ghana Programme. At a ceremony held in Amrahia, Accra, the Minister of Food and Agriculture, Eric Opoku, officially handed over the machines to regional ministers from the Upper East, Upper West, North East, Savannah, Northern, Greater Accra, Volta, Oti, and Bono East Regions. Each region will receive 100 machines, which will then be allocated to farmer cooperatives for use in irrigation and crop production.
