Court jails ex acting AGF Nwabuoku eight years for N868m fraud

A Federal High Court in Abuja has sentenced former acting Accountant General of the Federation, Chukwunyere Nwabuoku, to eight years in prison after finding him guilty of N868 million money laundering charges.​ Justice James Omotosho ruled that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission proved all nine counts against Nwabuoku beyond reasonable doubt, as required by law. Reps seek tighter defence accountability in 2026 budget

The House of Representatives Committee on Defence has called for stricter accountability, result driven spending and a comprehensive security strategy in the 2026 defence budget. Chairman of the committee, Babajimi Benson, made the call in Abuja as the panel began budget defence sessions with the Ministry of Defence and its agencies.​ Benson described the exercise as a sacred constitutional duty and a key stage in the appropriation process. Matawalle at centre of FG defence reforms, says aide
