White House Seeks $87.6bn for Iran War Costs
The White House has formally requested congressional approval for an $87.6 billion spending package, with the majority of the funds earmarked for costs linked to the ongoing US military operation against Iran. According to the administration, about $67 billion of the proposed funding would be allocated to the Department of Defense to support military requirements arising from the conflict. The request was submitted Wednesday by the Office of Management and Budget in a letter addressed to House Speaker Mike Johnson. The proposal arrives at a politically sensitive moment.
