Oborevwori cracks down on illegal devt levy, warns defaulters of tough sanctions

Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has reiterated the ban on the illegal collection of development levies known as “Deve” in Delta State, warning that violators will face strict consequences. He issued the warning during an inspection of the Warri Stadium project, stressing that his administration will not tolerate any activity capable of disrupting government, corporate or private development projects. His remarks follow the recent arraignment of two suspects accused of engaging in the illegal development levy collection in the state. Oborevwori described all unauthorised charges imposed on developers and contractors as “dead on arrival,” noting that such practices hinder infrastructure delivery and discourage investment. He commended Warri South Local Government chairman Weyinmi Agbatayeniro for sustaining peace and supporting ongoing development efforts in the area.
