Nigeria have a good chance of winning AFCON, says Algeria captain Riyad Mahrez
Algeria captain Riyad Mahrez says Nigeria now have a strong chance of winning the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations after knocking his team out in the quarterfinals. He was speaking after the Super Eagles beat Algeria 2 0 in Marrakech to reach a record 16th AFCON semifinal. Mahrez praised Nigeria’s attack, led by Victor Osimhen and Akor Adams, who both scored in the quarterfinal clash. He said the team’s balance, confidence and goal scoring form make them one of the favourites to lift the trophy in Morocco.
