APC’s Danjuma Shekwolo wins Kuje area council chairmanship

All Progressives Congress candidate Danjuma Shekwolo has been declared winner of the Kuje Area Council chairmanship election in the Federal Capital Territory. He secured 17,269 votes to defeat his closest rivals in the poll. Announcing the result, Returning Officer Prof Nkiruka Odoh of the University of Abuja said Shekwolo, having scored the highest number of lawful votes and met all legal requirements, was duly elected and returned as council chairman. The declaration of the Kuje result completes the announcement of winners for chairmanship positions across the six FCT area councils. With this outcome, the APC now controls Kuje along with other councils won in Saturday’s elections.

Greater Accra MMDCEs urge government to boost sanitation funding

The Dean of Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) in the Greater Accra Region, John Desmond Sowah, has appealed to government to increase budgetary allocation for sanitation to sustain a clean environment and improve waste management, particularly in the capital region. He made the call during the handover of cleaning tools and equipment to all Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies (MMDAs) in the Greater Accra Region by the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs.
