President Bola Tinubu has directed a continuous 24-hour aerial security operation over forests in Kwara, Kebbi, and Niger States after a series of mass abductions and rising banditry. The Nigerian Air Force is to coordinate the aerial patrol with ground troops to deter kidnappers, track criminal movements, and enable faster rescue missions for victims.
The move follows the recent abduction of more than 20 people—including women and children—in Isapa, Kwara. The Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) has threatened to pull teachers from unsafe classrooms, demanding urgent government action to secure schools and rescue those in captivity. The United Nations has also called for immediate steps to end the wave of mass kidnappings.
Kwara’s governor set up a high-level committee to develop local security solutions, while Kebbi’s governor welcomed the safe return of 25 abducted schoolgirls—affirming no ransom was paid, crediting security agencies, and thanking Tinubu for swift action. The Presidency clarified precision and intelligence constraints, noting care is needed to prevent civilian casualties during any forced rescue efforts.
Communities are urged to supply timely intelligence on suspicious activity, as bandit attacks remain a national security emergency.

NMA rejects court ruling giving FCCPC power to probe medical negligence

Court rejects FCCPC’s fresh bid to halt airtime lending
A Federal High Court has rejected a fresh attempt by the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission to stop airtime lending services run through major telecom networks. The ruling preserves an earlier interim injunction that protects airtime and data credit providers while a substantive suit on new lending rules is being heard. The case centres on the FCCPC’s 2025 Digital, Electronic, Online or Non Traditional Consumer Lending Regulations, which the commission wants to fully enforce across digital lenders, including Airtime Credit Service providers.
