Lagos rolls out traffic diversion plan for Fanti Carnival at TBS

The Lagos State Government has announced a traffic diversion plan and temporary road closures around Tafawa Balewa Square ahead of the Lagos Fanti Carnival scheduled for Monday April 6 2026. Authorities say the measures are to ensure a safe and hitch free procession on Lagos Island. According to the Ministry of Transportation, vehicular movement will be restricted on major routes leading directly into TBS from 7 00 a m on the day of the event. Affected corridors include King George V Road by the Mobil Filling Station, Flag House inbound TBS, Force Road inbound TBS, Onikan Roundabout inbound TBS and WaterBoy Roundabout by Old Defence House. Speeding truck crushes LAWMA worker on Eko Bridge corridor

A Lagos Waste Management Authority worker, identified as Baba Ibeji, has been severely injured after a loaded container truck crushed him along the Offin Canal corridor inward Eko Bridge.​ The accident happened in the early hours at Oja Junction when the speeding truck reportedly suffered brake failure while descending the CMS Bridge toward Eko Bridge. Tanker overturns on Liverpool Bridge as officials avert disaster

A major disaster was averted on Monday after a diesel laden tanker overturned on Liverpool Bridge, outward Apapa, in the Tin Can Island area of Lagos. Videos showed residents rushing to scoop the spilled diesel in jerrycans and other containers before authorities arrived.​ Emergency agencies, including the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Lagos State Traffic Management Authority and the Police, moved in quickly after the videos went viral. Two killed as tanker collides with motorcycle in Lagos

Two persons have died in Lagos after a tanker collided with a commercial motorcycle, also known as okada, in the early hours of Wednesday. The crash occurred along a busy corridor in the state and caused panic among road users before emergency responders arrived.​ According to preliminary information from traffic authorities, the tanker driver was allegedly speeding and lost control while attempting to manoeuvre through traffic. Three dead, others injured in multiple crash on Lagos-Ibadan expressway

At least three people, including a police inspector, have been confirmed dead following a multiple-vehicle crash involving five articulated trucks on Kara Bridge, inward Mowe, along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. One Dead, Two Injured in Lagos Ikorodu Road Crash

A tragic accident on Ikorodu Road, Lagos, has claimed one life and left two others severely injured, the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) confirmed on Tuesday. The crash occurred at the Idi-Iroko inward Ogolonto axis when a fully loaded commercial Mazda bus collided with a fast-moving articulated truck. According to LASTMA spokesperson Taofiq Adebayo, preliminary investigations revealed that the bus, with registration number LND 490 SD, was recklessly competing for right of way when it rammed into the truck, registered EKY 121 YJ. “One passenger, seated at the doorway of the Mazda bus, was thrown from the vehicle and tragically crushed beneath the truck’s rear tyres,” Adebayo said.
