One killed, two injured in Lagos gas tanker fire

One person died and others were injured in a gas tanker explosion at Ologuro Bus Stop, opposite the Total Filling Station in Sangotedo, Lagos.​ The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency said the incident happened when a tipper truck rammed into a gas tanker from behind, which led to a sudden fire outbreak.​ Preliminary investigations by the agency indicated that the crash was caused by speeding and reckless driving by the tipper driver.​ The tipper driver, an adult man, died from the impact of the collision. Two adult women sustained minor injuries and received first aid from the Lagos State Ambulance Service at the scene.​ The fire also spread to four roadside shops and caused serious damage to the structures and goods. Fire guts Computer Village building, destroys goods worth millions

A night time fire has destroyed a one storey commercial building on Somoye Street in Computer Village, Ikeja, Lagos, burning property worth several millions of naira. The affected building housed shops used for the storage and sale of computers and accessories.​ Eyewitnesses said the fire started around midnight and spread quickly because of the volume of combustible materials inside. Emergency responders arrived after distress calls and battled the flames through the night.​ No life was lost, but an officer of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service sustained minor injuries during the operation.
