Fire guts Computer Village building, destroys goods worth millions
A night time fire has destroyed a one storey commercial building on Somoye Street in Computer Village, Ikeja, Lagos, burning property worth several millions of naira. The affected building housed shops used for the storage and sale of computers and accessories. Eyewitnesses said the fire started around midnight and spread quickly because of the volume of combustible materials inside. Emergency responders arrived after distress calls and battled the flames through the night. No life was lost, but an officer of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service sustained minor injuries during the operation. He received first aid treatment at the scene from Lagos State Ambulance Service officials.
