Police bust job scam kidnap gang luring victims to Rivers

The Rivers State Police Command has uncovered and arrested a kidnap syndicate that lured victims from Lagos and other states to Rivers with fake job offers. Police said the abduction of one Chukwudekwu Emmanuel, a Lagos resident kidnapped on 17 February 2026 in Etche Local Government Area, led to the breakthrough. US pulls some embassy staff from Nigeria over insecurity

In a travel advisory issued on Wednesday, the department urged American citizens to reconsider travelling to Nigeria from April 8 2026 due to crime, terrorism, kidnapping, civil unrest and limited healthcare services. Nigeria has been placed at Level 3 Reconsider Travel, while 23 states are now listed under Level 4 Do Not Travel. Police confirm abduction of four in Oyo, launch rescue mission

The Oyo State Police Command has confirmed the abduction of four persons by suspected bandits along the Igbeti–Kishi Road in Oyo State.
