Gusau backs Chelle to lead Super Eagles to more success
Nigeria Football Federation President Ibrahim Musa Gusau says the Super Eagles are on track to achieve major success under coach Eric Chelle. He spoke after Nigeria’s third place finish at the 35th Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, praising the team’s resilience after missing back to back World Cups. Gusau said the original target was to win the AFCON title, but he was proud of how the team played with energy, patriotism and strong character. He also thanked the Federal Government and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for sustained support for Nigerian football. Chelle, who assumed duty in January 2025, has led Nigeria in 17 competitive games without defeat, winning 11 and drawing six.
