PFIPC scandal Senate blocks fresh probe
The Senate has declined a fresh probe into the controversy surrounding the purported Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council, or PFIPC. Lawmakers said they would wait for the outcome of the ongoing investigation by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, ICPC, before taking any further action. The matter came up after Senator Suleiman Kawu, who represents Kano South, asked the Senate to investigate how the agency, which the Presidency says does not exist, was included in the 2026 budget with a N1.3 billion allocation. Kawu said the inclusion of the agency in the budget raised serious concerns about the integrity of the budget process and the role of those who approved it.
