Kano Lawmaker Quits NNPP Over Leadership Crisis
Sagir Ibrahim Koki, Deputy Chairman of the House Committee on Petroleum Resources (Midstream) and representative of Kano Municipal Federal Constituency, has resigned from the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP). Koki announced his resignation via his official X account, attributing his exit to persistent national leadership crises within the party. In his letter to the Zaitawa Ward Chairperson, Koki cited his constitutional right to quit and referenced internal party conflicts as the main reason for stepping down. He said the ongoing leadership disputes made it “difficult, if not impossible,” to fulfill his duties to Kano Municipal residents. Koki thanked the party for the chance to serve and acknowledged the support and experience gained. His move follows the recent defection of Ambassador Olufemi Ajadi from NNPP to PDP, intensifying speculation over the party’s future.
