Atletico beat 10 man Barcelona in UCL quarter final first leg
Atletico Madrid took control of their UEFA Champions League quarter final tie with a 2 0 away win over 10 man Barcelona in the first leg at the Olympic Stadium. Julian Alvarez and Alexander Sorloth scored the goals for Diego Simeone’s side, giving them a strong advantage to defend in next Tuesday’s return leg at the Metropolitano. The turning point came just before half time when Barcelona defender Pau Cubarsi was sent off for a last man foul. From the resulting free kick, Alvarez bent a superb shot into the net to put Atletico ahead.
