Japan’s ‘King Kazu’ signs for Fukushima United at 58

Japanese football legend Kazuyoshi Miura has joined third-division side Fukushima United on loan at the age of 58. The move will extend his professional career into a 41st season.​ Miura, widely known as King Kazu, said his passion for football remains strong despite his age. He promised to fight hard for Fukushima United and urged fans and the local community to join him in making history with the club.​ He will turn 59 in February and is returning to the J. League structure for the first time in five years. Last season he played for fourth-tier Atletico Suzuka, making seven appearances before the team was relegated to the regional leagues.​ Fukushima United finished 10th in Japan’s 20-team third division last season.
