Israel and Iran traded fire on Monday, seriously testing a fragile truce and threatening hopes for a deal to end the Middle East war. The new attacks, including a strike on an Iranian petrochemical complex, came hours after US President Donald Trump called on Israel to refrain from retaliating against Tehran's missiles. The retaliation followed Israel saying it fired on western and central Iran in tit-for-tat action against Tehran's assault on Sunday of 11 missiles, all of which were intercepted with no casualties. Israel's military and Iranian local media said Monday that Israel struck a petrochemical company in Mahshahr in southwestern Iran, a major industrial complex that had been hit before in April. The escalation came after Israel carried out an air raid on southern Beirut, killing at least two people and wounding 20, which Iran said "crossed all red […]

Iran Executes Man Over Links to Nationwide Protests

Iran has executed a man over his alleged involvement in nationwide anti-establishment protests that erupted in January 2026. Judiciary-affiliated media identified the executed man as Erfan Kiani, whose death sentence was upheld by the Supreme Court before being carried out early Saturday morning. Authorities said Kiani acted on behalf of Israel's Mossad intelligence service. Iranian officials claimed Kiani led a group in the central city of Isfahan that carried out acts including damaging public and private property, setting fires, using Molotov cocktails, blocking roads and attacking security forces during the unrest. State media described him as a key figure in efforts to create "fear and chaos." The execution comes amid an ongoing crackdown following the January protests, with several people executed in recent weeks on similar charges. This is part of what officials say is a broader campaign against foreign-backed […]

Wave Of US, Israeli Strikes Hit Key Iran Sites

United States and Israeli forces have carried out another wave of coordinated airstrikes on key targets inside Iran, hitting military, industrial and energy related sites. According to battlefield monitoring group ACLED, hundreds of strikes have now been recorded in at least 26 of Iran’s 31 provinces since the war escalated. Tehran, Isfahan and several western and southern regions have been among the hardest hit areas. An update from the Critical Threats Project said Israeli jets struck multiple missile and drone production facilities in Tehran on March 29. Targets included a Defence Ministry missile engine plant, a drone engine factory and an air defence storage and production site. US Central Command and the Israeli military have also focused heavily on Iran’s air […]

Rising Costs and Poverty Hit Iranians Hard

Many Iranians are struggling to make ends meet as inflation and economic pressures continue to erode living standards across the country. Marjan, a crafts seller from Isfahan, says she and her husband can no longer afford small luxuries like eating out twice a month. For six years, she earned a living selling wooden crafts on Instagram, but an internet blackout during the nationwide protests in early January wiped out her income. Even after the internet returned, her monthly sales plummeted from 300 million rials ($185) to less than 30 million rials. The couple is considering selling their car just to keep up with rent and loan payments. Many families face similar hardships. Mina, a 44-year-old mother in Tehran, says food prices have more than doubled in recent months. Beef, which cost 7 million rials per kilo two months ago, recently […]
