Primary Elections: Nigerians Now Know You’re Liars, Wike Blasts ADC, NDC

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and former Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike, has lambasted the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), saying the outcome of their recent presidential primaries has exposed them as “liars” who have been deceiving Nigerians. Speaking in Abuja while reacting to the crisis and protests that trailed the opposition parties’ primaries, Wike said the ADC and NDC had presented themselves as messiahs and claimed they would conduct transparent, data-driven internal elections, only to be engulfed in allegations of manipulation at their first major test. “As small as the NDC is, it cannot hold its primary election without protests,” Wike said, mocking the party for failing to manage its internal processes. He added: “Nigerians now know that you are all liars,” insisting that the crisis showed the parties were no different […]

Primaries: APC Reps fight back after ticket losses

A number of All Progressives Congress (APC) members of the House of Representatives who lost their return tickets in the just‑concluded primaries are fighting back through legal challenges and internal party pressure. At least 26 incumbent lawmakers are at the centre of the brewing crisis, accusing party leaders and primary election officials of manipulation, imposition and disenfranchisement. Some aggrieved Reps have petitioned the APC national leadership and primary appeals panels, demanding the cancellation or review of results in their constituencies. They allege irregularities such as last‑minute changes to delegates’ lists, vote‑buying, intimidation of voters and the imposition of consensus candidates without proper consultation. Others are turning to the courts, filing suits to challenge the conduct of primaries or to seek recognition as the authentic candidates. However, analysts note that the amended Electoral Act now prevents aspirants who lost party primaries […]

Supreme Court judgment: Rivers ADC shifts focus to winning 2027 polls

The Rivers State chapter of the African Democratic Congress says it is now fully focused on winning the 2027 general elections after a Supreme Court judgment restored the party’s David Mark led national leadership. The ruling set aside an earlier Court of Appeal order that had asked all factions to maintain the status quo in the party’s leadership crisis. Rivers ADC chairman elect Dr Chukwudi Dimkpa described the Supreme Court decision as a welcome development and a major relief for members. He said the verdict provides a clear and lawful pathway for the party to organise itself and prepare for the next polls. The apex court held that the Court of Appeal acted outside its jurisdiction when it issued fresh directives after already dismissing the appeal before it. Justices of the Supreme Court called the status quo order unnecessary, unwarranted […]

NPP Presidential Race: Nomination GH₵100K, Filing GH₵500K

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has officially opened nominations for its 2028 presidential primaries, setting a high financial threshold for aspirants: GH₵100,000 for the nomination form and GH₵500,000 for filing—totaling GH₵600,000. This move kicks off what is expected to be a highly competitive flagbearer race. What We Found NPP General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong confirmed on July 29, 2025, that the nomination process is underway. The nomination window will run from July 29 to August 28, 2025, with the presidential primary scheduled for January 31, 2026. The combined cost of GH₵600,000 has stirred debate: while party leadership argues fees are needed to cover logistical costs, critics warn they risk excluding talented grassroots candidates lacking financial backing. The early start—over two years before the general election—signals NPP’s strategy to give the eventual flagbearer ample time to unify the party and launch a robust […]
