Government Supports Accra Central Police Barracks Fire Victims with GH₵15,000 Each

The Ministry of the Interior, in partnership with the Ghana Police Service, has provided financial assistance to families affected by the recent fire outbreak at the Accra Central Police Barracks. The support package was announced by Interior Minister Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak during a visit by Vice President Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang on June 5, 2026, to assess the impact of the incident and interact with affected residents. According to the Minister, each affected family has received GH₵15,000 to help address immediate needs following the devastating fire, including the replacement of clothing, household items and other essential belongings lost during the incident. Interior Ministry Denies Assassination Claims on Kissi Agyebeng

The Interior Ministry has denied claims of any assassination attempt on Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng, saying it has no record or report of such an incident. The response follows a statement from the Office of the Special Prosecutor, which alleged that Mr Agyebeng had survived two assassination attempts while carrying out his duties. The claim was mentioned by Samuel Appiah Darko, Director of Strategy, Research and Communications at the OSP, during a Newsfile appearance on December 6, 2025, where he also alleged that he had been handcuffed and beaten by 17 police officers.
