Air Force Pledges Commitment to Safe Rescue of Abducted Oyo School Victims

The Nigerian Air Force has pledged its full commitment to the safe rescue of all pupils, students and teachers abducted from schools in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State. The pledge came as federal and state security agencies intensified rescue operations in the affected forest areas. The Defence Headquarters confirmed that the Chief of Defence Staff, General Olufemi Oluyede, has ordered the deployment of special forces and aerial surveillance assets to Oyo State to support ongoing rescue efforts and restore security in the affected communities. Intelligence gathering, aerial surveillance, community engagement and search-and-rescue operations are continuing without interruption, security officials disclosed. Buratai urges united front against insecurity

Former Chief of Army Staff Lt Gen Yusuf Tukur Buratai has called for collective action from all stakeholders to tackle Nigeria’s growing security challenges. He said sustainable nation building is impossible without first addressing insecurity across the country. Buratai spoke in Dutse after receiving an award from the Federal University Dutse during the 2nd International Conference on Nation Building in the 21st Century organised by the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. Acting Inspector General of Police Olatunji Disu has placed all police commands across Nigeria on red alert in response to escalating tensions in the Middle East.
