Police arrest 50 protesters after Ekpoma anti kidnap rally

Police have arrested about 50 people in Ekpoma, Esan West Local Government Area of Edo State, after a protest over rising kidnapping turned violent. The demonstration, which began on Saturday as a peaceful march against insecurity, later saw bonfires and the blocking of major roads, including the Benin Abuja highway.​ The Edo State Police Command said hoodlums hijacked the protest and were involved in looting, vandalising shops and attacking traders. Troops kill over 23 bandits in Kano–Katsina joint operation
