Guardiola says he is hurt by human suffering in wars

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola says he feels deeply hurt by the suffering of civilians in wars and violent conflicts around the world.​ Guardiola recently missed a press conference before his team’s league match at Tottenham after giving a speech in Barcelona in support of Palestinian children at a charity event. He has often spoken about issues beyond football and said he will not stop, despite suggestions that he should focus only on the sport.​ Speaking ahead of City’s League Cup semi final second leg against Newcastle, he became emotional as he described watching news reports of children being killed or injured in different conflict zones.
