Konga: Davido should’ve shared N200m birthday donation with struggling music legends

Veteran Nigerian singer Konga has criticised the current generation of artists for not doing enough to support industry pioneers who are now struggling. Speaking on the Hits Don’t Lie podcast, he argued that Davido should have channelled his famous N200 million birthday donation towards helping music legends instead of giving it to orphanages. Konga said if he were on Davido’s management team at the time, he would have advised him to share the money among older stars facing hardship. Sampling Fela music doesn’t make you him – Seun Kuti

Afrobeats singer Seun Kuti has cautioned Nigerian artists against calling themselves the “New Fela”, insisting that sampling or remixing his late father’s music does not make them equivalent to the Afrobeat legend.
