GES Investigates Alleged Malpractice in 2025 BECE

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has opened a full-scale investigation into alleged malpractice in the ongoing 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE). In a statement released on Sunday, September 7, the Service acknowledged media reports, particularly a JoyNews TV documentary, which highlighted possible cheating in some schools. Management said transcripts of the documentary would be obtained and examined thoroughly as part of the probe. GES reaffirmed its zero-tolerance policy on examination malpractice, stressing that any official—teaching or non-teaching—found culpable would face severe disciplinary sanctions. The Service also emphasized that the investigation has the full support of Education Minister Haruna Iddrisu and will be conducted in partnership with WAEC, National Security, and other law enforcement agencies. Authorities reiterated their commitment to protecting the integrity of the BECE and ensuring a fair process for all candidates.
