DSS, forest guards kill bandits in gun battle, rescue nine abducted victims

Operatives of the Department of State Services and Kwara State Forest Guards have killed three suspected bandits and rescued nine abducted victims during a fierce gun battle in Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State. The intelligence-led operation was carried out on Wednesday in the Obbo-Aiyegunle, Ejiu-Ora and Osi axis of Ekiti LGA, a corridor that borders Ekiti, Kogi and Niger states. The team also included local hunters and vigilantes who joined the DSS and forest guards in combing the forests for the kidnappers. Troops repel bandits’ incursion into Kano communities

Troops of the Joint Task Force have foiled an attempted incursion by suspected bandits into several communities in Shanono Local Government Area of Kano State.​The operation, led by 3 Brigade of the Nigerian Army with other security agencies, was launched after credible intelligence on the movement of the armed group around parts of the council.​ Security sources said the troops moved swiftly towards the identified routes and engaged the bandits in a fierce gun battle, forcing them to retreat into nearby forest areas.​The intervention helped to protect vulnerable settlements that have previously been targeted for cattle rustling and other criminal activities.​ Earlier operations in the same axis saw the military neutralise several bandits, recover motorcycles, mobile phones and ransom money, and rescue kidnap victims, underscoring the area’s security risks.​Residents have been urged to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious movements […]

Police Neutralise Wanted Notorious Criminal In Ebonyi

The Ebonyi State Police Command has confirmed the death of Isaiah Okoronkwo, a notorious suspected criminal kingpin accused of terrorising the Iyonu community in Ishielu Local Government Area. In a statement issued by the Command’s spokesperson, SP Joshua Ukandu, the suspect had long been on the police wanted list due to his involvement in violent crimes and robberies in the area. Ukandu said the operation was carried out on 29th August 2025 by operatives of the Command’s Crack Squad, following credible intelligence on the criminals’ hideout in Iyonu Forest. “During the clearance operation, the hoodlums engaged operatives in a gun battle.
