China says it ‘welcomes’ Middle East ceasefire agreement

China has said it “welcomes” the ceasefire agreement reached in the Middle East between the parties to the Iran conflict. “China welcomes relevant parties announcing the reaching of a ceasefire agreement,” foreign ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning told reporters at a regular briefing in Beijing. UK boosts Middle East defence presence

The United Kingdom is reinforcing its military presence in the Middle East, deploying additional troops and advanced air defence systems in response to escalating threats linked to Iran. Defence Secretary John Healey confirmed that the total number of UK personnel involved in regional defence operations—including in the Gulf and Cyprus—will rise to around 1,000.
