US Nigeria sign 2.1bn health deal
The United States and Nigeria have signed a landmark agreement worth about 2.1 billion dollars to strengthen health security, expand primary healthcare, and support long term self reliance in Nigeria’s health system. The deal is framed as a technical memorandum of understanding that deepens bilateral health cooperation and aims to build a more resilient system for all Nigerians. Under the agreement, both countries will work together to improve early detection, prevention, and control of infectious diseases, including HIV and tuberculosis. The partnership also covers stronger disease surveillance, faster outbreak response, and better support for frontline health workers across the country.
