President John Dramani Mahama has confirmed that his official X (formerly Twitter) account (@JDMahama) has been successfully restored after being compromised on March 16, 2025. The hack involved the unauthorized promotion of a cryptocurrency scam, Solana Africa, which falsely claimed to be led by Mahama and promised free payments across Africa via the Solana blockchain.In a statement, President Mahama expressed his gratitude for the support received during the incident, thanking both the public and his team for their efforts in regaining control of the account. Atiwa East MP Celebrates Teachers with Cash and Prizes.

Abena Osei-Asare, MP for Atiwa East, has honored 41 hardworking and retired teachers in her constituency as part of her newly established Teachers’ Awards. Winners received cash prizes, motorbikes, TVs, and fridges for their dedication and impact in both public and private schools.Fauzia Nuhu of Moseaso Presby Basic School was crowned overall best teacher, taking home GH₵10,000, a refrigerator, and a 50-inch TV. Other awardees received GH₵5,000 each alongside other items. Categories included Best JHS Teacher, Best Primary Teacher, and Teacher at Deprived Areas.Speaking at the ceremony, Osei-Asare reaffirmed her commitment to education and encouraged teachers to embrace lifelong learning. Caretaker Jailed 10 Years for Electrocution of 14-Year-Old.

A High Court in Accra has sentenced Richmond Laweh, a 25-year-old caretaker, to 10 years in prison for manslaughter after his illegal electrical wiring led to the death of a 14-year-old boy, Samuel Darko. The tragic incident occurred in Ampomah, near Ashiyie, where Laweh had connected a live wire to a makeshift gate blocking a public pathway.The boy, unaware of the electrified gate, was fatally electrocuted while attempting to open it. Despite Laweh's claims of hiring a professional for the illegal connection, the court found his actions reckless, endangering public safety.Justice Marie-Louise Simmons emphasized the severity of the act, urging state institutions to be more proactive in preventing illegal electrical connections.
