Six injured in violent attack over land dispute at Domeabra

Six people have been injured in a violent land dispute between residents of Danchira and Domeabra in the Ga South Municipality of the Greater Accra Region. The conflict, which began on the evening of Tuesday, April 22, escalated at the outskirts of the Domeabra community with gunshots fired, leaving several individuals injured. Finance Ministry submits bill to Parliament to end sole-sourcing of power contracts

Finance Minister Dr Cassiel Ato Forson made the announcement on April 23 2025, during a session on the Ghana Energy Compact under Mission 300, organised by the World Bank. Former Parliamentary Candidate for Sefwi Akontombra, Appiah-Kubi Baidoo, has formally resigned from the New Patriotic Party (NPP), citing what he described as years of unfair treatment by the party’s leadership. G/A Minister leads cleanup exercise in Shai-Osudoku

 • Ms Ocloo (second from left) and others sweeping the area The Greater Accra Regional Minister, Ms Linda Akweley Ocloo, on Satur­day led a cleanup exercise in the Shai-Osudoku District as part of the second edition of the “Region­al Sanitation Day.” The exercise, which began at 6:00 am saw participants cleaning their surroundings and streets, de-silting choked gutters and clear­ing weeds. The exercise was in direct fulfilment of the Regional Coordi­nating Council to all Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies within the Greater Accra Region to embark on a massive clean-up exercise as part of the Regional Sanitation Day. Addressing journalists after the exercise, Ms Ocloo who is also Member of Parliament (MP) for the area said the exercise was in line with the directive from the President to make Accra the clean­est city in Africa.

Woman Jailed for Stealing Over GH¢221,000 in Lotto Sales

A 38-year-old manageress, Akua Darkoah Asamoah, has been sentenced to five years in prison by the Asante Abuakwa Circuit Court for stealing GH¢221,937.75 from lotto sales at the Atwima-Techiman branch of FOE Lotto Limited. Asamoah pleaded guilty to the charge of stealing and was convicted on her own plea.The theft took place between March 22 and June 2, 2024, when Asamoah failed to remit the proceeds from lotto sales received from sub-agents to the head office in Kumasi. A forensic audit revealed that after the winning numbers were drawn, Asamoah forged lotto tickets, falsely indicating winnings to cover up the theft.Asamoah was arrested after the company filed a complaint with the police.
