Power minister promises quick restoration of electricity supply
Minister of Power Adebayo Adelabu has assured Nigerians that electricity supply will be rapidly restored after a sharp nationwide drop in power in recent days. He said the disruption is temporary and linked to a sudden shortfall in generation caused by damage to critical gas infrastructure. According to the minister, the decline followed an explosion on the Escravos–Lagos Gas Pipeline and acts of vandalism on other gas facilities feeding several major thermal power plants. These incidents cut gas supply, forcing many gas fired stations to reduce output and leading to reduced power on the national grid.
