Van Dijk scores 100th minute winner as Liverpool beat Everton 2–1
Virgil van Dijk powered in a 100th minute header to give Liverpool a dramatic 2–1 win over Everton in the first Merseyside derby at the new Hill Dickinson Stadium. The victory keeps Liverpool firmly on course for a Champions League place ahead of the title clash between Manchester City and Arsenal later on Sunday. Liverpool took the lead in the first half through Mohamed Salah. Cody Gakpo slipped a superb through ball into his path and the Egyptian forward finished calmly, just two minutes after Iliman Ndiaye’s goal for Everton had been ruled out by VAR for offside against Jake O’Brien.
