Turkey opposes military operations against Iran

Turkey says it is against any military operation against Iran, warning that foreign intervention would only deepen crises in the country and across the Middle East. Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan told journalists in Istanbul that Iran’s internal problems must be resolved by Iranians themselves, not imposed from outside. Fidan said Ankara does not want instability in neighbouring Iran, even though it recognises there are serious issues within Iranian society and government. He cautioned that attempts by the United States or Israel to use force would likely worsen tensions and trigger wider regional conflict. The minister noted that the current protests in Iran stem from legitimate grievances, but that they are also being exploited by Iran’s external enemies. Sowore condemns US airstrikes on Nigerian soil

Human rights activist and former presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore has strongly criticised the recent United States military strikes on Nigerian soil. He said allowing such actions sends a signal that Nigeria cannot protect itself and is willing to hand over its security to external powers. He also faulted the Nigerian government for what he called weakness and complicity. According to him, the authorities should have openly rejected the US airstrikes instead of agreeing to or tolerating them. Sowore warned that foreign military involvement rarely solves internal security problems. He pointed to past US interventions in countries like Iraq, Libya and Afghanistan, saying they often left […]

He argued that while Islam allows the fight against terrorism, such operations must be carried out by what he described as clean hands, insisting that the US lacks the moral authority to lead counterterrorism efforts because of its global military record. According to him, Nigeria made a mistake by allowing foreign powers to play a direct role in its security operations. He said foreign military interventions often come with hidden political interests and can lead to civilian casualties. Gumi also cautioned that […]
