Nigeria Ghana onion trade resumes after 5 day suspension

Cross border onion trade between Nigeria and Ghana has resumed after Nigerian exporters suspended a five day strike over harassment and seizures in Ghana. President of the National Onion Producers Processors and Marketers Association of Nigeria NOPPMAN Aliyu Maitasamu Isah confirmed that transactions have fully restarted along the Ghana corridor and other export routes. He said the dispute was resolved after high level talks involving Nigeria’s High Commissioner to Ghana and Ghana’s Minister of Trade, who intervened to calm tensions and restore confidence. According to him the agreement led to the release of previously detained trucks and a return to the status quo, allowing traders to operate as they did before the crisis.
