FDA to inspect school food vendors in Central Region

The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) in the Central Region has announced plans to inspect the certifications of food vendors in schools to ensure that pupils are served safe and healthy meals. Regional Director of the FDA, Francisca Anokye, said the initiative is aimed at preventing uncertified vendors from operating in schools, a move she believes will protect children from foodborne illnesses. She revealed this during a food safety training programme held in Cape Coast for School Health Education Promoters (SHEP). The programme was organised in collaboration with the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and forms part of broader efforts to improve food safety practices.
