Tinubu orders full probe into Kano Singer Market fire

President Bola Tinubu has ordered a comprehensive investigation into the fire outbreak that destroyed shops and goods at Singer Market in Kano State. He also commiserated with traders and residents, describing the incident as tragic and deeply distressing. The fire started on Saturday evening and raged into Sunday morning, causing major damage to the popular food and provisions market. Market leaders said properties worth more than N5 billion were lost, with over 1,000 businesses affected. Fire guts 10 shops at Oshodi Arena market

A fire on Tuesday evening destroyed about 10 shops at the popular Arena Market in Bolade, Oshodi, Lagos State. The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service confirmed the incident in a statement by its Controller General, Margaret Adeseye.​ The agency said it received a distress call at about 5:50 p.m. and deployed firefighting units immediately. Responders arrived at the scene within five minutes, at around 5:55 p.m.​ Adeseye explained that the fire affected a section of the market made up of five 40 foot container shops arranged in two rows, bringing the total number of damaged shops to 10. Fire Destroys Over 50 Wooden Structures Behind Arts Centre, Accra

On the evening of June 24, 2025, a large fire broke out behind the Arts Centre in Accra, opposite the National Lotteries office. According to the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), the blaze destroyed more than 50 wooden kiosks and temporary dwellings. Thankfully, there were no casualties reported. Emergency Response & Containment The fire was first detected at 18:20 GMT, and firefighters from the Ministries Fire Station arrived within six minutes. Complicating the response was the failure of nearby hydrants. As a result, four additional fire engines from the Electoral Commission, Accra City, Parliament House, and the Greater Accra Regional Headquarters were deployed.
