Armed men kill ex councillor, four others in midnight attack on Benue community
Armed men have killed a former councillor and four other people in a midnight attack on a farming community in Gwer West Local Government Area of Benue State. The incident happened in the early hours of Monday when the gunmen stormed the area, shooting sporadically and forcing residents to flee into nearby bushes. Local sources identified the ex councillor as Iorhen Iorbue, a prominent community figure. Three men and one woman were also killed, while four other people were reportedly abducted during the assault. The attackers, suspected to be armed herders, also burnt several houses and looted food items and valuables.
