NFVCB honours Funke Akindele as box office champion
The National Film and Video Censors Board has honoured Nollywood actress and filmmaker Funke Akindele as a box office champion for her record-breaking achievements in Nigerian cinema. At an event in Lagos, Akindele received multiple awards, including recognition for excellence in promoting indigenous films. She was presented with the Box Office Champion Award for her 2020 blockbuster Omo Ghetto: The Saga, which emerged as the highest-grossing Nollywood film of that year. Akindele also received the Audience Choice Award for Everybody Loves Jenifa, reflecting her strong connection with viewers across Nigeria and beyond.
