Former Ghanaian football star Michael Essien has shared that his most severe injuries happened while representing the Black Stars. Despite the setbacks, Essien holds no resentment towards the national team, where he played in two World Cups, including Ghana’s debut in 2006, and helped secure a third-place finish at the 2008 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).The first significant injury occurred in a friendly against Senegal in 2007, followed by a knee injury during a match against Libya in 2008, which sidelined him for much of that year’s UEFA Champions League group stage.
