Western Region Ambulance Service Struggles with Limited Resources Despite 1,800+ Calls
The Western Regional Ambulance Service has responded to 1,842 distress calls over the past year, including 232 maternal-related emergencies. Despite their efforts, the service faces significant challenges due to inadequate resources.According to Regional Manager Mr. F.B. Manu, the service operates with 21 ambulances, two of which are currently under repair. Additionally, staff shortages and a lack of proper office space hinder operations. Some stations, including Takoradi, Daboase, and Amenfi Central, are forced to operate from the regional headquarters due to a lack of dedicated offices.The regional dispatch center is also struggling with limited space and inadequate facilities, making it difficult to coordinate emergency calls effectively.
